In Vitro Fertilisation

In Vitro Fertilisation is indicated when the Fallopian Tubes are obstructed, the semen analysis have slight changes, in case of endometriosis and to treat infertility with unknown causes. IVF is also effective to couples who tried other treatments unsuccessfully.
You resort much rapidly to IVF when there is an infertility situation for over 2 years or when the woman is aged over 35.

In most cases, the treatment endures about 2.5 weeks.
AVA Clinic has been using quite successfully the so called protocols with the use of antagonists. These treatments are much comfortable and shorter to couples, having less secondary effects and providing excellent results.

During In Vitro Fertilisation the ovaries are stimulated with daily subcutaneous injections for a period of 9 to 12 days. The ultrasound scan monitorisation is essential to determine the medication doses to be administrated and to set the time when eggs are mature. By that time, eggs are collected from the ovaries. This procedure does not need general anaesthesia and takes up to 20 minutes. In this same day the male collects the semen.
The process continues in the laboratory with the fertilisation of eggs by the sperm. After some days in culture, one or two embryos are transferred into the uterus through a thin catheter. The embryos with good quality (that won’t be transferred), can be cryopreserved to be used when necessary.
In IVF you can use anonymous egg or sperm donors in case you need. All these treatments may be performed in AVA Clinic.
The IVF success rates round 35 to 45% for each attempt, depending a lot on the woman age and the quality of the transferred embryos. With a set of 3 IVF you can get a cumulative pregnancy rate of 75 to 80%. IVF in egg donation has a higher pregnancy rate due to the use of younger women eggs.
